1902 - The Life of Kit Carson, The Great Western Hunter and Guide, by Charles Burdett, with Introduction by G. Mercer Adam, and published by A.L. Burt of New York, with the stamp "Burt’s Library of the World’s Best Books"; the first edition of The Life of Kit Carson by Burdett was published in 1879, 11 years after the death of Carson, and the book became one of his most popular and well-known works; Graeme Mercer Adam was a publisher, editor, and author, born in 1839 at Loanhead, Scotland, and died in New York in 1912; in good condition with maroon cloth covers and gold lettering on the spine

1904 - The Life of Sir Walter Scott by John Gibson Lockhart, Abridged and Newly Edited with Notes, etc., and published by Hutchinson and Co. of London; the Preface by Lockhart dated 1848 recounts how in May 1847, the publisher of Sir Walter Scott’s Works requested he prepare an abridged version of the Memoirs of the author, originally in 7 volumes "in a book of smaller bulk"; the book contains a Commendatory by Sir Lesley Stephen; in very nice condition with olive green leather cover, (minor signs of use) exhibiting a gold embossed monogram of the publisher, and an ornate gold embossed floral design showing title, author and publisher on the spine

Circa 1910 - From Log Cabin to White House, Life of James A. Garfield, President of the United Sates, Boyhood, Youth, Manhood, Assassination, by William M. Thayer, published by Ward, Lock and Co. Limited, London and Melbourne; William Makepeace Thayer (1820-1898) was a distinguished American writer and educator; there is a handwritten ink notation on the first blank page "Prize awarded to Inkerman Bryce by M.A. Cameron for Proficiency in Writing, M.A. Cameron, Teacher, Rockfield School, June 23rd 1911" - in good condition with green decoratively embossed cloth cover (minor signs of use), title and author embossed in gold on front cover, and likewise decoratively gold embossed spine with Title, Author, and Publisher

1917 - Mr Britling Sees It Through by H.G. Wells, with Frontispiece, and printed at New York by The Macmillan Company in 1917. original copyright in 1916 by H.G. Wells (1866-1946), and first published in September 1916 - in good condition with red cloth cover with gold embossed title and author on front and spine
